As COVID-19 cases are on the rise again, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that eligible people in the United States get vaccinated to protect themselves and others from the virus. The Oklahoma State Department of Health provided people in the area with the opportunity for free vaccinations every Tuesday throughout the month of September. Each Tuesday, the OSDH gave shots on the Wilburton campus.
The walk-in clinic was parked at the Wilburton campus in front of the Student Center from noon until 4 p.m. and was available for the public, not only for EOSC students. The clinic had three vaccine options: Pfizer (2 doses, 3 weeks apart), Moderna (2 doses, 4 weeks apart), and Johnson & Johnson (1 dose).
While the clinic is open for the public, Eastern Oklahoma State College is offering Mountaineers from all campus locations the chance to submit their proof of vaccination to be entered to win prizes such as the following: grand prize of $1,000 scholarship, Apple Airpods, laptop computer, Bluetooth speaker, dorm refrigerator, dorm microwave, portable charger, backpack, and gift cards. The contest ends 11:59 p.m. Oct. 31.
