The start of a new semester is always a great time to familiarize yourself with the academic services that Eastern can offer students. One such support program is the college’s TRiO program.
TRiO Student Support Services (SSS) is a program funded by the Department of Education and is located in Johnston Hall at the Wilburton campus. They push students to graduate from Eastern and help set goals for their future. They have many services available and it is all completely free. Apply today to see if you qualify.
SSS offers a lot of support services such as tutoring; individual tutoring and group study halls available, counseling; on staff counselors help with planning for the future, application and transfer assistance; campus tours and at least one cultural trip set up each semester, and workshops: hour long workshops are offered throughout the semester on various topics.
To apply for the TRiO services, start by filling out the application online. Then, schedule an appointment with your TRiO academic advisor to set up your support plan. The only requirements are you must be a U.S. citizen or meet the residency requirements for federal student financial assistance. You also have to be either a first-generation college student, have a limited income, or have a physical or learning disability.
For more information on the program, stop by the basement of Johnston Hall or contact TRiO Program Director Cynthia Valenzuela at (918) 465-1823.
