You asked, and the school listened!
At the end of every academic year, the school asks students to complete a Student Satisfaction Survey to get feedback on several areas, including their on-campus experience. A common request from those surveys and feedback collected by the Eastern Student Government Association and other student groups has been for more areas to relax and hang out with friends or places for outdoor activities.
“We listened to this feedback and worked on a plan to create spaces for both group activities and to relax,” said Trish McBeath, Vice President of Student and External Affairs.
For the first project, they partnered with the Health and Wellness Center to build The Village at the E. The new hangout will be located behind Choctaw Hall near the soccer fields. It will feature a human foosball court, sand volleyball and a hammock park.
The Village at the E isn’t the only project the school is greenlit. The EOSC Development Foundation also approved plans to bring back an alumni favorite, Boonies! Boonies 2.0 will make use of the blue building just east of the white house.
While there are no anticipated dates on when Boonies 2.0 will come to life, The Village at the E is expected to break ground and be completed within the next 4 to 6 weeks.
