HILLSBORO, Texas — Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, all of Eastern Oklahoma State College’s sports were pushed back until January. But fast forward to now, the start of January, and the Mountaineers are fired up and ready to take on their delayed seasons.
The Lady Mountaineers basketball team started their season off with an away game against Hill College in the Hill College Classic on Jan. 22. They took a small loss, with the final score being 78-86. The top scorer of the night for the Mountaineers was Brayanna (BB) Polk with a total of 19 points.
The day after playing Hill College, the women faced off against Cisco College. The outcome was different, however, receiving their first “W” of the season with a score of 88-64. The score leaders of the night were Polk and Tilan Nolan who both scored 15 points. Their teammates, Tijanae Simmons and Shanequa Henry both had 13 points each, followed by Jaylann Myles with 12 points and Ashly Rubio with 7.
The Lady Mountaineers held their first home game against Crowder College on Jan. 7.
