For the first time in program history, the men’s soccer team has punched a ticket to attend the National tournament in Melbourne, Florida. In their most recent, national deciding game, Eastern men’s soccer took the victory over Western Texas College.
After locking the title as the number one seed in their conference, the men blew it out of the water after their victory over Murray in the first round of the tournament and then a win over Rich Mountain in the final, to take home the title as Region 2 Championship. Top goal scorer, Peter Julmis, scored the game-winning goal at 105 minutes in double overtime with a superb assist from a free kick from Guilherme Domingues.
Coach Carranza, NJCAA Men’s soccer coach of the year expressed his gratitude to all the Eastern supporters in a post-game interview describing how “before we look at individual achievements we must look at everyone who has helped outside of the field.”
The men will be traveling to the tournament from the 13th of November, and there will be coverage from the official NJCAA website. The drawings for the tournament’s first round will be announced Tuesday, November 8.
